All About Mrs. Jones
Let me start by welcoming you to our class! I am so excited I will be spending the year with your child and watching him/her play and grow! Below I shared a little about myself. I look forward to getting to know all of you as well!
To begin, teaching is more than just a job for me, it's my passion. Very early on I knew I wanted to become a teacher. I enjoy being a part of a profession where I am able to touch so many lives and continue to grow as a learner myself. I work hard to build a positive relationship with all of my students and help them to grow and become independent thinkers and learners.
It was my education at Michigan State University that helped prepare me. I have a Bachelors of Science in Child Development and am highly qualified to teach K-8th grade. I loved my undergrad experience so much that I went back to MSU for my masters degree in Literacy. I also have several years of experience working in the classroom. I taught in the Lansing School District for three years. There I taught kindergarten, first, and fifth grade. Then I was hired into DeWitt Public Schools (a suburb of Lansing) and taught first grade for 5 years. My family relocated to the Detroit area, and I was fortunate to be hired into Rochester. I taught first grade at McGregor Elementary for three years, and this will be my fourth year teaching kindergarten at Baldwin.
Some personal things about me:
I have a wonderful family at home that I love to spend time with. My husband Don and I have been married for eleven years. We have a seven year-old named Brandt, a four year-old named Vaughn and a one year-old named Graham. I also have a dog named Wilson and a cat named Olive. In my spare time I enjoy working out, reading, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
